Class Descriptions

All Levels Flow – A contemporary and eclectic practice that uses a dynamic system of linking breath to movement. It builds internal heat, endurance, flexibility, strength and concentration, with sequences that are often built around sun salutations. Richly infused with classical yoga teachings, pranayama, and meditation to tame the mind and open the heart, postures are routinely modified for different abilities while honoring the contemporary science of biomechanics.

Ashtanga – Taught by traditional Ashtanga yoga practitioner Gretchen Arguedas, this class will explore elements of the primary and secondary series of ashtanga vinyasa yoga. Pranayama (breathing), drishti (looking spots) and bandha (internal, subtle body locks) will be taught along with asanas (yoga postures). Class includes chanting, meditation and theory. Ashtanga yoga is a traditional method from the late yoga master, Shr K. Pattabhi Jois from Mysore, India. This class is open to all levels and modifications of postures will be offered.  Ashtanga is a quick-paced, challenging style, so please come to class well-hydrated and ready to sweat.

Belly Bustin’ Core – Purify, strengthen, align and stretch while connecting to your inner core.  This Yoga-Pilates fusion class combines core conditioning with the breath, balance and relaxation of yoga.

Family Yoga - Candice’s 1 hour class is a great opportunity to share your yoga practice with the whole family.  This class has a fun and playful approach to yoga, integrating a lot of partner poses and a guided relaxation at the end.  Your family will leave class more unified and relaxed.  Kids are free with paying Parent/Guardian.

Foundations Series (Preregistration Required) - This 6-week series is a fun, interactive way to learn the basics of yoga.  It will introduce students to different types of yoga, class etiquette, yoga poses, breathing and simple mindfulness and meditation techniques. Yoga Foundations will be tailored to individual needs so students feel comfortable moving in their bodies.  PLEASE NOTE, IN OUR MINDBODY SCHEDULER YOGA FOUNDATIONS WILL BE FOUND UNDER THE WORKSHOPS TAB.

Fusion Yoga – Fusion yoga takes traditional yoga postures and adds a western flair to breath awareness, to create an inner fire which cleanses the tissue, tones the muscles and quiets the mind. Taking the heat that is created you will move into relaxing, deep stretching to cap off your practice…quieting the mind and leaving you prepared to face the business of life with clarity and ease.  This is an all levels class where modifications are given to better help you find your place in the pose.  That being said, get in here!

Gentle Yoga – Through yin yoga postures this class will gently stretch and rehabilitate the connective tissues that form our joints. Pranayama, breathing exercises, will be incorporated in all classes. Restorative poses will be incorporated as well, using props: bolsters, blankets, blocks, belts. It will be both rejuvenating and relaxing, bringing forth a feeling of well-being and clarity.

Happy Hour Vinyasa- Let go of your work week and move and groove your body and mind into the weekend with this fun and relaxing vinyasa yoga class.

Hot Lunch – For those who want a  50-minute Power Lunch where they are guaranteed to sweat. With the studio heated to an invigorating 88-90 degrees, come prepared for a powerful cleansing detox and deep stretch!  Every other week this will be a Hot Yin Class…long holds, deep stretches, deliciously restorative.

Karma CommUNITY Class -  Sunday’s are for Self! This class is free and open to all members of our community.  In partnership with the Yoga Tree of Boise, this class will highlight the best of Boise’s yoga, pilates, tai chi, dance, movement teachers.  Each month Sage and the Yoga Tree rotate the CommUNITY Classes.  Check the schedule to see studio the classes are at this month.

Moving Into Stillness -  Join this All Levels class for a vigorous physical practice, including close study of certain postures, and exploration of meditation techniques that lead to a deeper sense of connection with self and the world. This class will be begin with pranayama (breathwork) and asana (posture) practice and will end with at least 20 minutes of seated meditation. Experience the symbiosis of movement and stillness and settle into the quiet calm that is your true nature. By your own experience of the practice, you come into an understanding that you can tap into your stillness anytime, anywhere.

Nosara Vinyasa -  This all levels vinyasa class is of the Interdisciplinary style of yoga as taught at the Nosara Yoga Institute. Classes begin with explorations in Self-Awakening Yoga, flow into a vinyasa sequence, building towards students moving to the impulse of their own bodies as we allow for time one to experiment with their own flow.  Arm balances and inversions may be introduced in a safe and effective manner. Classes end with Pranayama, Meditation and a soothing Savasana.

Power Lunch – Break out of your usual lunch routine and energize your body and mind with an active flow incorporating core strength, stretching, breathing and guided relaxation, all in 50 minutes!  This yoga class will leave you energized, focused and ready to move into the rest of your day.

Prana Flow – Prana Flow is an energetic, creative, full-spectrum approach to embodying the flow of yoga cultivated by Shiva Rea. Students are empowered to experience prana – the universal source of breath, life-energy and conscious intelligence – as the navigating source of yoga practice and vital living. Practitioners learn classical and innovative approaches to vinyasa yoga and the state of flow drawn from Krishnamacharya’s teachings, Tantra, Ayurveda, Bhakti, Somatics and Shiva’s teaching experience from the last fifteen years.

Reiki Flow – A guided and dynamic sensory yogic journey for all levels where alignment and strength meet movement, relaxation, meditation, and reiki. Reiki is a method of exploring awareness and moving unified spirit consciousness, or prana. Reiki is offered in this class in harmonic frequency with the yogic principles of ahimsa (non-harming) and bhakti (love and devotion) by reiki master Heidi Jae.

Teen Yoga - This fun and playful vinyasa yoga class will instill a sense of self-confidence and freedom in teens. Set to a rockin’ playlist, teens will leave feeling energized, destressed, stronger and more flexible.  This is an All-Levels yoga class, for both boys and girls.

Therapeutic Yoga – This class will explore refined alignment and techniques that promote healing in key areas of the body such as the low back and shoulders. We’ll learn how to integrate and employ the body as a harmonious whole in asana and other daily movement.  Suitable for those wanting to deepen their knowledge of the body, as well as those wishing to address injuries.

Vinyasa Yoga – Our signature style.  An energetic and fluid yoga class that brings together postures, breathing and meditation in a dynamic moving sequence.  Vinyasa practice produces internal heat that tones the muscles and purifies the body.  Students are encouraged to move at their own pace as they become internally aware of the body, mind and breath moving together.

Vinyasa Yoga Levels II/III – A contemporary and eclectic practice that uses a dynamic system of linking breath to movement. Richly infused with classical yoga teachings, pranayama, mudra, mantra, and meditation. Suitable for intermediate and advanced students with a solid foundation of sun salutations and basic standing postures. Emphasize strength, stamina, and mindfulness while working on intermediate postures, backbends, arm balances, and inversions. Deepen your practice and connection to your physical and energetic body in this challenging yoga class.

West African Dance - This dance/movement class is an aerobic experience, building strength, stamina and grace as participants move to the live drumming rhythms of Guinea, West Africa.

Yin-Licious - Slow down, stretch out, find that delicious sweet spot. Yin-licious is a yin centered yoga class: slowing down in body and mind through passive, long holds that go deep to the connective tissue around the joints. Join us for 50 minutes of relaxing, letting go, and hitting that reset button.  You’ll love it.  Trust me.

Yin/Yang Yoga – This is a passive yet challenging style of yoga that targets deep connective tissue.  Passive (Yin) poses are held for a longer time, encouraging a deep release in the harder to stretch tissues within the body, while active (Yang) poses strengthen and invigorate the body and mind and increase stamina, balance and muscle tone.  Hands on assists are used to help students release and go deeper into the pose. This yoga class leaves the body relaxed, refreshed and calm.
